E46 Thud When Changing Gear, I noticed that when the auto tranny downshifts from 4th to 3rd gear there is a loud thud and jerk and downshifting is not as smooth as gear changes The rear floor in the E46 appears to be failing due to ***8220;High Cycle Fatigue***8221; ***8211; a failure that occurs after a relatively large number of cycles.
